7 Ways to Prepare for a New Window Installation

If you are ready to upgrade to some new windows and have chosen the windows, you will need to get ready for installation day. You are going to want to do a few things to prepare for the actual installation day.

Way #1: Clean Outside the Window

First, you are going to want to clean outside the window. You are going to want to remove anything in front of the windows. That includes things such as lawn furniture, planters, and anything else that is in the way. If you have shrubs and trees in front of the window, you may want to trim them back as well.

Way #2: Clean Inside the Window

Next, you are going to want to clean inside the window area as well. If you have anything sitting on the windowsill, you are going to need to remove it. You will also want to remove all furniture in front of the window so that it is easier for the installation team to do their job.

Way #3: Remove Window Covering

Third, you are going to want to remove any window coverings that are hanging over the window. That means taking down any blinds, curtains, and drapes that you have in place. You can put them up later. If you have anything hanging on the wall near the window, you should remove those items to have a clear workspace.

Way #4: Cover Up Your Floors

Fourth, you are going to want to cover up your floors. Dust will be created during the window installation process and small debris as well. Putting plastic covering or a canvas drop cloth down will help ensure your floors will not get damaged.

Way #5: Cover Up Your Belongings

Fifth, it is always a good idea to cover up your belongings near the window installation area. You can also put up a floor to ceiling plastic sheeting while the windows are installed to control the temperature in your home and control the mess.

Way #6: Get Rid of Distractions

If you have kids or pets, you are going to want to get rid of distractions. You don't want your kids or pets to distract the installers.

Way #7: Clear Outside Access

Finally, you are going to want to clear outside access to your home. That means moving your vehicles so that the installation team can get close to your home and will not have to move their supplies so far.
